The Role

We are seeking a seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of People to join our talented team at Function Health. As an integral part of our organization, you will manage all aspects of Human Resources. As a key member of the team, this individual will partner effectively with the COO and the rest of the co-founders to develop integrated HR programs that are aligned with the company’s aggressive business plans and objectives and ensure that Function's vibrant culture and operating environment are maintained as the firm grows.

Responsibilities:

  • HR Team Leadership
    • Build and lead a proactive HR team to support the business goals and talent strategies.
    • Develop and implement scalable HR policies, processes, and systems to support global growth.
    • Provide tactical and strategic support to business and staff leaders.
  • HR Roadmap Development
    • Develop and implement an HR roadmap outlining the company's HR needs.
    • Plan and define resource and capability requirements for each stage of the roadmap.
    • Anticipate growth and develop an HR roadmap, including business cases and budget plans for necessary resources.
  • Total Reward Strategy
    • Lead and execute a market-competitive total reward strategy, including compensation and benefits.
    • Ensure the rewards program is fair, incentivizes desired behaviors, and aligns with company goals and performance.
    • Enable the hiring, development, retention, and rewarding of top talent to meet strategic objectives.
  • Strategic Talent Management:
    • Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive talent management strategies that align with the company's vision and objectives, encompassing employee development, leadership growth, and succession planning.
    • Partner with the Head of Product Recruiting to integrate talent acquisition with broader HR strategies, ensuring seamless workforce planning and the alignment of recruitment efforts with the company’s growth and talent needs.
    • Lead the design and implementation of innovative compensation and performance management systems that promote equity, motivation, and organizational alignment
  • Leadership and Organizational Development:
    • Provide strategic leadership to foster an inclusive and high-performance culture, focusing on enhancing employee engagement and developing internal leadership capabilities.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization to ensure that HR strategies are integrated and aligned with departmental goals and the overall business strategy.
    • Regularly collaborate with the Head of Product Recruiting and other leaders to continuously improve talent development practices, employer branding, and candidate experience.
  • Cultural Enhancement
    • Enhance and promote a strong collaborative culture within Function.
    • Act as an effective spokesperson and champion for HR and Function in the community.
    • Engage with the executive team to maintain a motivating and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Compliance and Legal Awareness
    • Maintain awareness of government influences on employee policies and practices.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning employment practices, employee health and safety, labor relations, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience with human resources and people
  • Possesses deep knowledge about emerging human resource trends and practices
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to effectively represent the company to a variety of audiences.

  • What is Function’s approach to remote work? Function is 100% remote across the United States, from Austin to New York to San Francisco. We meet up in person on occasion.
  • Who works at Function? We’re small but growing! The team includes: Pranitha, Mike, Jonathan, Dr. Hyman, Sean, Max, Shea, Sara, Tova, Amy, Kiara, Whitney, Erika and many more.
  • What’s the interview process like? You’ll meet with our Co-Founder & COO, Pranitha Patil. On this call, we’re looking to understand your experience, interests, and if you’re a culture fit. Then, you’ll have a Co-Founders interview, where you’ll meet the other co-founders that have built and run the company. After that we’ll send an offer. If we don’t give an offer, we’ll be sure to provide feedback.
